Plains Cree/Swampy Cree/Woodland Cree
Cree traditions called for respect for all things; living or not living. Everything was utilized for a purpose so that nothing went unused. This custom is best identified in the thorough use of animals, as they were utilized for food, clothing and other uses.
Cree social structure was based on a kinship system that is reinforced through relationships found in the language, customs and traditions. Each individual in the community had defined roles and responsibilities which were strictly adhered to. This interdependence was necessary for survival.
